Concept Design / Animation

TOOLS

After Effects / Cinema 4D

In celebration of John Paxson’s three-peat legacy as an NBA Champion with the Chicago Bulls, I collaborated with the team to craft a distinct visual language for the Ring of Honor Class of 2025 exclusive content. The creative direction aimed to capture the poise, trust, and composure that defined Paxson’s championship years—translating his legacy into a cinematic reflection of what it means to be a true champion.

Through shimmering gold reflections cast across basketball court surfaces, paired with archival stills projected as light and texture, the piece reimagines Paxson’s pivotal moments as a steady, trusted role player whose quiet confidence helped define an era of Bulls greatness.

CREATIVE APPROACH

To create a stylized, distorted, yet recognizable aesthetic, I used Cinema 4D and After Effects to build polished hardwood, glass, and gold-textured environments in a macro-cinematography style. Golden light flares and reflective distortions were then layered to capture glimpse, memory-like moments projected across the floor.

R&D PROCESS

We used Milanote to structure the development process – gathering references, building mood boards, and developing style frames that explored reflective materials and metallic-gold typography. Some of these early ideas didn’t appear in the final cut, but they were essential in shaping the visual direction and guiding the evolution toward a cohesive, appropriate aesthetic.
